Who we are
Hontola Oy ("Hontola", "we", "us"), Business ID 3621413-1, based in Finland, is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. You can reach us at info@hontola.com for any privacy question or request.
What we collect
- Contact and lead forms (on this site's contact and landing pages): name, email, phone number if provided, your message, the page you submitted from, and campaign/referrer information if you arrived via an ad.
- Purchases: your email, and — if provided — billing name, billing address, company name, and VAT/tax ID for invoicing. Payment card details are never seen or stored by us; they're entered directly into Stripe, our payment processor, and handled entirely under Stripe's own security and privacy practices.
- Analytics (only if you accept analytics cookies): pages viewed, general device/browser information, approximate location, and on-site actions like submitting a form or completing a purchase.
Why we collect it
- To respond to your inquiry and provide a quote — legitimate interest.
- To deliver the website, SEO, or advertising services you purchase, and to process payment — performance of a contract.
- To understand how the site is used and improve it — only with your consent (see Cookies below).
Who we share it with
We use a small number of third-party processors, and don't sell your data to anyone:
- Stripe — payment processing and invoicing. See Stripe's Privacy Policy.
- Google Analytics — site usage analytics, only loaded after you accept analytics cookies. See Google's Privacy Policy.
Cookies
We use a small number of strictly necessary cookies to run the checkout and contact forms — these don't require consent under GDPR/ePrivacy rules. Analytics cookies (Google Analytics) are optional and only set after you click "Accept" on the cookie banner; you can decline them, and you can change your choice at any time by clearing your browser's cookies for this site and reloading the page.
How long we keep it
We keep personal data only as long as necessary for the purpose it was collected — typically for the duration of our business relationship, plus any period required by Finnish accounting or tax law for purchase records. Data you submit through a contact form that doesn't lead to a purchase is kept only as long as needed to respond to your inquiry, then deleted.
Your rights
Under GDPR, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate data
- Request erasure of your data
- Restrict or object to certain processing
- Receive your data in a portable format
- Withdraw consent for analytics at any time
To exercise any of these rights, email info@hontola.com. If you're unsatisfied with our response, you have the right to lodge a complaint with Finland's Data Protection Ombudsman (tietosuoja.fi).

We may update this policy from time to time; the "Last updated" date above reflects the most recent revision.
